The attention will be focused on the sessions which the Constituent Assembly devoted to the division of powers, the Civil Constitution of the Clergy, the reform of the judicial system and the right of peace and war.Questo articolo analizza l'uso politico della storia nei primi dibattiti costituzionali della Rivoluzione Francese (1789-1791). L'obiettivo è dimostrare che i precedenti storici e i modelli legislativi e costituzionali del passato hanno avuto un ruolo determinante anche nei principali dibattiti parlamentari che portarono all'approvazione della prima Costituzione rivoluzionaria (3 settembre 1791).
