Transparency, citizen participation and the right to information are terms which are increasingly more relevant. Work is being done to try to change the institutions and so that they operate in a more transparent and efficient way following the indications of a growingly informed citizenship. However, achieving this is complex, because it implies a cultural change in the institutions themselves and in the citizenry. For this, we must stress the training and information of the young people of our society, who will be responsible for assuming and practicing new forms of government. In this sense, the objective of this paper is to describe two projects designed and applied in the educational field of the Region of Murcia: the IRIS Program and participatory budgeting processes. While the first was developed within the framework of the subject of Philosophy from the first year of high school to a sample of students from six secondary schools in five municipalities, the participatory budgeting processes put into practice are reaching most of the students of the educational centers of the municipalities where they are currently being implemented. Two different programs with a common goal: to train in transparency, citizen participation and the right to information to young people.

Se trabaja para intentar cambiar las instituciones y para que éstas funcionen de un modo más transparente y eficiente siguiendo las indicaciones de una ciudadanía cada vez más informada. Sin embargo, lograrlo es complejo, porque implica un cambio cultural en las propias instituciones y en la ciudadanía. Para ello debemos incidir en la formación e información de los jóvenes de nuestra sociedad, que serán responsables de asumir y practicar nuevas formas de gobierno. En este sentido, el objetivo de este trabajo es describir dos proyectos diseñados y aplicados en el ámbito educativo de la Región de Murcia: el Programa IRIS y los procesos de presupuestos participativos. Mientras que el primero se desarrolla en el marco de la asignatura de Filosofía de primero de Bachillerato a una muestra de estudiantes de diversos institutos de enseñanza secundaria de diferentes municipios, los procesos de presupuestos participativos puestos en práctica están alcanzando a la mayor parte del alumnado de los centros educativos de los municipios donde se están implementando en la actualidad.
