Summary: The digital transformation is a key factor for the economic growth of companies, at the same time as it implies important challenges in terms of protection of personal data, that has become a priority in recent years. The last milestone has been the entry into force of the new European regulations, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Social networks have a great role and are increasingly used by users to interact with companies, exchanging a large amount of personal information. In the present work we analyze the terms of use and data policies of social networks Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and WhatsApp - in order to highlight how much information and what kind of information we are sharing, and who has access to it. Likewise, the GDPR is reviewed, identifying the main novelties in terms of data protection and analyzing the extent to which social network platforms have adapted their privacy policies to the new regulations.
