Summary: Following the most devastating crisis since the 1930s, we are going through a new economic and political scenario conducive not only to the reversal of much of the cuts applied to social policies, but to progress in the development of a state of Advanced Wellness. The so-called “social Fridays” and the Royal decrees-laws that have resulted from them invite us to think that we are entering that path and that, therefore, we begin a new cycle for social policies in our country. However, at least the analysis of the social protection measures of RDL 8/2019, it cannot be said that we have gone so far. The present study analyses this battery of proposals paying special attention to the star measure, the reform of the preretirement subsidy or, now, again, for over 52 years. In particular, we will deal with the extent to which we are faced with a genuine change of cycle, we will stop in the amendments introduced in the aforementioned subsidy, we will undertake a concise analysis of the rest of social protection actions, to conclude with some reflections on the extent to which social policies are knowing how to adapt to the new times and how they can address the challenges posed by the post-crisis period
