This review article takes on the publication of four new volumes on Italian populism to highlight two key developments in the Italian party system. First, the decline of the two main parties —Partito Democratico and Forza Italia— that dominated Italian politics during the last decade, and second, the emergence of a new populist consensus led by M5S and Lega Nord.Las elecciones celebradas en Italia el 4 de marzo de 2018 han resultado históricas y abren una nueva fase en la política italiana. El resultado de las elecciones ha llevado a la formación del primer Gobierno populista y euroescéptico en un país fundador de la Unión Europea.
