To this end, the public administration has focused its efforts to enact law, plans and programs in order to promote the tourist rehabilitation. The aim of this paper is to analyze the measures and incentives for the rehabilitation of the mature tourism destination which the public administration has proposed to determine if the proposed goals could be achieved in the municipality of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, Gran Canaria.Canarias ostenta relevancia mundial como destino turístico de sol y playa, caracterizándose también por ser una zona turística madura con una planta alojativa obsoleta. En consecuencia, la rehabilitación y renovación de estas áreas turísticas se convierte en un elemento clave de las políticas públicas. Para ello, la administración pública ha centrado sus esfuerzos en promulgar un conjunto de políticas, planes, y programas en materia urbanística y financiera con el fin de promover dicha rehabilitación turística.
