However, these approaches did not achieve an enhancement of their internal social cohesion that could justify such association. Although the third-world discourse has therefore worked out as an international policy instrument, it is still conservative in the internal level of the regimes.El presente artículo reflexiona sobre la asociación entre el Irán del presidente Mahmoud Ahmadineyad y la Venezuela del presidente Hugo Chávez, bajo la lógica del discurso tercermundista. El argumento principal es que el discurso de reivindicación tercermundista le permitió al régimen iraní acercarse a países que comparten su crítica al sistema internacional y al poderío de Estados Unidos. Pero, por otra parte, no logró desarrollar la suficiente adhesión social interna que justifique tal asociación.
