Summary: The Agricultural Sector represents an outstanding feature not only by its historical background, but by the relationship with the national economy, the link to our culture and roots, its undeniable adherence to the political circumstances, as well as the influence over the international agenda. The present study analyses the development of social rights, in particular the agricultural sector, its economic impact in the country and the relation with the poverty rates. Because of the nature of this last statement, the study applies a method based on a multidisciplinary approach in which the social, legal and economic approach show in an objective way the enormous challenge that the Mexican State has in order to search for new social development strategies that allow an economic and competitive improvement in a new globalized world.
