Summary: Abstract Colombia and Canada Free Trade Agreement entered into the force as of Au gust 2011, thereby including the liberalization in public procurement. Never theless, the exchange between these two countries in this segment is practically inexistent. It is found that the infringement of the non-discrimination or equal treatment principle, is one of the obstacles for such situation, taking into accou nt a Canadian perspective. This principle constitutes one of the legal pillars of public procurements within FTAs. This article pretends to explore a field barely studied and to offer outlooks so as to demonstrate why public procurement continues being an area of sheer protectionism and low commercial exchange among commercial partners.
