Summary: The main objective of this article is to examine the capacity of restorative justice to have an influence on desistance from antisocial or criminal behaviour, in order to identify the role of mediation in the process of change (Prochaska & DiClemente, 1983; 1984) of offenders. Results show that it is possible to identify offenders in all of the stages of change. Among the factors linked to motivation and the process of change, the vast majority of the offenders identify mediation as a turning point or a significant element on the way to a pro-social life. Results show the complexity of the process of change and the difficulties offenders have to face in order to achieve it, and specially the challenge of maintaining this change.
