Starting from a general reference to the regulation of gambling and betting activities in the United States, pointing out the relevant federal legislation and recognizing the pre-eminence of the different States given their competences on the regulation of gambling, in this paper we will focus on sports betting, that being banned except in very few States by the federal Professional and Amateur Sports Act of 1992. This law has been declared unconstitutional by the Supreme Court of the United States judgment of May 14, 2018. This implies an important change of scenery in United States sports industry. |
