Summary: In this work I examine the possible challenges fora Law Doctoral Degree in Latin America, considering the socio-cultural and legal context, particularly in Colombia and Argentina, specifically at the School of Law and Political Science at the University of Antioquia, in Colombia, and the School of law and Social Sciences of the National University, Cordoba, Argentina. This article has two parts. In the first part I will present a very general philosophical infrastructure of how I seethe Law degree as an object of know ledge and which ones are some of the most out standing features of the disciplines, concepts, methods and theories that are used to investigate the law. Defending a series of theses that should serve as guidelines to articulate a doctorate degree in law. In the second part, I sketch what could be the basic architecture of a hypothetical doctorate in law.
