Summary: This text aims to describe and study the process through which Mexico once again incorporated to its legislation the independent candidates for different positions of popular election, emphasizing the competition by the presidency of Mexico. These candidates that, in the face of the crisis of representation that accompanies the political parties at present, have come to complement the electoral game, extending the options with which the citizens have the moment of depositing their votes to opt for a certain country project, or by a candidate. The independent candidates will be analyzed in this text with the intention of knowing their process of incorporation from 2012 to the political system and to the Mexican electoral system, to verify their functioning, their contributions to democracy, the challenges and uncertainties that they involve, as well as their advantages and weaknesses, focusing on its true complexity
