The Venezuelan government has subjected the Venezuelan society to constant militarization, especially through the creation of armed civilian groups, such as the militias. At the same time, it has promoted the formalization of certain so- cial movements —by law— to guarantee the establishment of “Communal Power”. However, some of these movements have served to accommodate the formation of other “armed civilian groups”, which causes a greater concern in the Venezuelan society because all this is an atypical situation in this South American country. e purpose of this essay is to address whether some groups from these “social move- ments” are part of an organized structure of power, speci cally attached to the state apparatus, to commit crimes against the civil society. |
