Summary: In this study we analyze how the interlocking of the ideas of “race” and “gender” influenced the construction of Constitutionalism. The role these ideas played in undervaluing other groups of non-occidental persons has been of importance in the development of the Constitutional State. The interlocking of exclusions meant, moreover, that the humanity of other groups was questioned with which they were excluded of the declarations of rights of the 18th Century. This study aims to correct this silence by recuperating the marks of these other subjectivities. We intend to complement the official narrative of constitutionalism and its history and apply this in teaching.
