Of the different approaches that frame the intelligence work, the Sherman Kent process seems to be the one that delineates the Mexican approach, or at least it seems to be the one taken by the center of intelligence and national security (CISEN). Such an approach holds true that if the knowledge gained from intelligence work is not complete, safe, timely and applicable to a problem that is produced or about to occur, it would be useless; so the relationship or need for direction or guidance is essential: close to state policies and any state project, but with enough distance as to not lose objectivity. The intelligence process for national security in
Mexico is still subject to development. In the last

frame the intelligence work, the Sherman Kent process
seems to be the one that delineates the Mexican

security (CISEN). Such an approach holds true that
if the knowledge gained from intelligence work is
not complete, safe, timely and applicable to a problem
that is produced or about to occur, it would
be useless; so the relationship or need for direction
or guidance is essential: close to state policies and
any state project, but with enough distance as to
