In this order, it is intended to demonstrate that prison works as a place where life is overexploited: a space where the living labor force is being administered and placed in a situation of risk and struggle for life; at a point where life must be defended at all times. But, above all, the prison is a place where life is used for capitalist profitability and utilitarian affairs. We suggest all this, taking into consideration the specific case study of the Center for Social Reinsertion in Puebla, Mexico (Centro de Reinserción Social Puebla), in order to demonstrate that all these problems also concern Latin America.Este trabajo busca dar respuesta a las siguientes preguntas: ¿qué se está haciendo hoy en la prisión?, ¿qué se hace hoy con la prisión?, desde la biopolítica de Foucault y el punto de vista del trabajo-valor de Marx, mediante el empleo de la metodología cualitativa (por observación y testimonio). En este orden, se pretende demostrar que la prisión funciona como un espacio donde la vida es sobreexplotada: un espacio donde la fuerza de trabajo vivo es administrada y colocada en una situación de riesgo y de lucha por la vida, en un punto en que la vida debe ser defendida en todo momento. Pero, sobre todo, la prisión es un lugar donde la vida es usada para la rentabilidad capitalista y asuntos utilitarios.
