Laburpena: From the bio politics of Foucault and a labor point of view of Marx and by using a qualitative methodology (observation and testimony); this paper seeks to give answers, to the following questions: What is being done today at prison? What is being done today with the prison? In this order, it is intended to demonstrate that prison works as a place where life is overexploited: a space where the living labor force is being administered and placed in a situation of risk and struggle for life; at a point where life must be defended at all times. But, above all, the prison is a place where life is used for capitalist profitability and utilitarian affairs. We suggest all this, taking into consideration the specific case study of the Center for Social Reinsertion in Puebla, Mexico (Centro de Reinserción Social Puebla), in order to demonstrate that all these problems also concern Latin America.
