Summary: |
The new Political Constitution of the Plurinational State of Bolivia is a major milestone
due to the political and social struggles that preceded its proclamation in 2009. The Bolivian
State has changed through the reestablishment of its pillars with the introduction of the terms
decolonization and plurinationality in the Constitution, those terms mark the progress in the
attempt of rebuilding Bolivia’s institutions. The challenges are huge in a process that has been
renowned as revolutionary in many aspects. Evidence suggests that the liberal element that
remains in Bolivia’s legal structure does not impede the process of rupture within the State.
In fact, practical limitations are still present, as well as the actions that might be considered as
an achievement in the struggle for a decolonized, plurinationalistic and anticapitalistic Latin
America. |
