Summary: The article proposes a critical reflection on the issue of the conceptual distinction between subordination and self-employment in Italy, where Labour Law has recently experienced a reform, well-known as Job’s Act, that has – inter alia – introduced a new regulation of certain forms of the so called parasubordinazione. Also in the light of the self-employment and “smart working” reform project, many and heterogeneous are the interpretation issues that deserve serious consideration, dealing with subordination, and so with the very essence of Labour Law
