Summary: Problems caused by educational imbalances have been widely studied. In the case of Spain, this problem is particularly relevant given the fact that it is among the countries with the highest percentage of overeducated workers in the OECD. The problem is even greater among the nation’s youth, with previous studies showing that the percentage of overeducated Spanish young people is around 50%. This situation has negative effects on the labor market: lower wages and lower job satisfaction which translates into a decrease in productivity. This paper analyzes the phenomenon of the educational imbalance among Spanish youth and estimates the effect this imbalance has on salaries. The results suggest that young Spaniards are at a disadvantage compared to the rest of the population of the country
