Summary: A questionnaire in Spanish (with yes or no responses) was developed to study the effects of neurotoxic agents in various groups of Latin America are illiterate, the questions had to be read to the workers. Initially, the questionnaire contained 34 questions but was reduced to 16 after validating the questionnaire during a three week period; namely, if the questions were able to discriminate between groups of workers exposes to different neurotoxins (mercury, lead, organic solvents and organophosphates) and groups of non-exposed workers. A total of 851 male workers from both countries participated in the study. The questionnaire is recommended for monitoring workers exposed to neurotoxic agents.
