Summary: This article explores an aspect of the Vintila Horia’s literary work that has not been studied yet, which is his philosophy about human rights. Although initially Horia had a legal aca- demic formation, his work was mainly carried out on the literature and philosophy fields. The notion of freedom will be the core on the first stage of his work, focused from a human sciences perspective. On its second phase, “holistic”, freedom will continue to be the core of his reflection, but from a perspective that also incorporates the natural sciences. Its “holistic” approach on the issue of freedom will lead to a reflection over human rights. However, their protector is not the state, but somebody else from the outside, whom has the ability to perceive the human essence and the dangers that threaten them; the novelist.
