Summary: |
The Codification of 1917 signified a notable step forward in the
arduous task of reorganising and systematising the huge number of laws that
were in force at the time of the Pius X’s term of office. Although it was intended
as a realignment of Canon Law following the model of the Codex of Justinian,
in reality, because of the way it was implemented and the subsequent exegetical
commentary, it finished by appearing similar to modern codes of various States. Nevertheless, and in the field of procedural law, significant improvements were
introduced for performing the processes and the defence of the rights of the
faithful. |
