Summary: Understanding how a society works is not easy, it’s a complex and plural reality. It has to take into account the characteristics of its history, culture, economic, legislative and political development among other realities. Throughout history philosophers, sociologists, economists, jurists and scientists have contributed with visions, sometimes complementary, others antagonistic, about the origin, structure and organization of the society in which they live and how they think they could be the perfect, or at least the best possible. Without trying to establish a unique mold of society, nor its political structure, this paper tries to explain, following mainly the ideas of Rafael Alvira, the elements that conforms a society, from a small and more perfect as the family, to a greater scope as it is the State. Professor Alvira in several books and articles has, as he says, tried to expose in a systematic way the different elements that conforms a society. The present work tries to summarize some of these documents, without even being a critical or complete study, enriching it with other authors and with personal reflections.
