Among these are those that arise in respect of directto-consumers genetic test that seem to promote greater empowerment of citizens in health information. However, under such alleged seizure they not really hide autonomous decisions by the absence of reliable information on the validity and clinical utility of such tests.El avance de la genética en lo que se refiere a su aplicación práctica en el ámbito de la salud ha dado lugar a nuevas posibilidades en la lucha contra las enfermedades, sobre todo, desde la perspectiva del diagnóstico temprano o de su predicción. Tales nuevas posibilidades presentan muchos beneficios pero también provocan nuevos dilemas ético-legales. Entre éstos destacan los que se plantean respecto de los denominados test genéticos directos al consumidor que parecen promover un mayor empoderamiento de los ciudadanos en la información sobre su salud.
