Summary: The article focuses on the demands of transgender people in regard to the recognition of their identity and the challenges civil registries face as the institutions in charge of executing the proposed changes. In particular, the article analyzes the demands for rectification of name and sex according to gender identity. Likewise, the article analyzes the proposals of administrative proceedings that civil registries would have as opposed to the judicialization of the rectification processes according to the person’s own will and self-determination; the main issue being the recognition of the gender component of the right to identity
