With the adoption of the UN Security Council emblematic resolution 1325, an international agenda on women's equality has been incorporated into the field of international peace and security. An initial assessment fifteen years after its implementation shows that the agenda has been carried out mainly on its preventive axis, rather than its axis of participation, which affects the political leadership of women in conflict prevention and the construction of peace. The Global Study of the implementation of resolution 1325 highlights the participation of women in peace processes remains a challenge. In order to assess the degree of implementation of the agenda in this area we will take concrete examples. These examples allow identifying those aspects that should be reinforced to ensure that the women, peace and security agenda achieves the initial objectives in one of its pillars, such as the political leadership of women. The Colombian peace process is the most relevant case of integrating the agenda into peace negotiations, and represents a significant evolution from the paradigm based on women as victims of conflict to actors in the peace process. Likewise, it is worth noting the initiatives to monitor the implementation of the agenda through mechanisms of accountability that involve civil society.

Likewise, it is worth noting the initiatives to monitor the implementation of the agenda through mechanisms of accountability that involve civil society.Con la adopción de la emblemática resolución 1325 por el Consejo de Seguridad de las Naciones Unidas, se incorpora una agenda internacional sobre igualdad de las mujeres en el ámbito de la paz y seguridad internacional. Un primer balance tras quince años de implementación revela que la agenda se ha desarrollado sobre todo a través de su eje preventivo, por encima de su eje de participación, que incide en el liderazgo político de las mujeres en la prevención de conflictos y la construcción de la paz. El Estudio mundial sobre la aplicación de la resolución 1325 pone de relieve que la participación de las mujeres en los procesos de paz todavía sigue siendo un reto pendiente. Por ello, para evaluar el grado de implementación de la agenda en este ámbito atenderemos a ejemplos concretos. Estos ejemplos permiten identificar aquellos aspectos que deberían ser reforzados para lograr que la agenda mujeres, paz y seguridad alcance los objetivos iniciales en uno de sus pilares como es el liderazgo político de las mujeres. El proceso de paz de Colombia es el caso más relevante de integración de la agenda en unas negociaciones de paz, y representa una evolución importante del paradigma basado en las mujeres como víctimas del conflicto a actores del proceso de paz.
