Although, generally speaking, the Social and Solidarity Economy is understood as the interrelation of companies and participative associative organizations, constituted by cooperatives, mutuals, savings banks, employee funds, community enterprises, associations, dedicated to production, distribution and consumption of goods and services, non-profit and in solidarity. The different places and contexts in which it develops, gives this sector particularities and, therefore, the need for a broad and divergent analysis. The present work proposes an evaluation of different criteria about the Social and Solidarity Economy in the current international context.El tema sobre la Economía Social y Solidaria, desde su propio surgimiento, ha sido abordado por diversos autores, estrechamente asociado a dicho debate han surgido puntos de vista divergente, devenidos referentes teóricos y metodológicos de dicha definición, como base para su realización práctica, en un contexto donde la globalización neoliberal ha condicionado la búsqueda de alternativas viables para paliar las contradicciones que genera. A pesar de que, de manera general, se entiende la Economía Social y Solidaria como la interrelación de empresas y organizaciones asociativas participativas, constituida por cooperativas, mutuales, cajas de ahorro, fondos de empleados, empresas comunitarias, asociaciones, dedicadas a la producción, distribución y consumo de bienes y servicios, sin fines de lucro y de forma solidaria. Los diferentes escenarios y contextos en que se desarrolla, le imprime a dicho sector particularidades y, por tanto, la necesidad de un análisis amplio y divergente.
