The last part of the article illustrates the effects of these factors through a concrete example — the management of the Spanish crisis — and thus demonstrates that the rapid increase in the gender gap during this period wasn’t a consequence of the crisis itself, but of these implicit principles when dealing with sexual difference.El presente artículo identifica tres factores o principios implícitos que actúan de forma desapercibida y naturalizada en las democracias formalmente igualitarias y que explican cómo, pese a la existencia de políticas de igualdad, persiste la discriminación por razón de sexo. Estos tres factores son el universalismo homogeneizante, el tratamiento de la diferencia como alteridad y la consideración de los derechos de las mujeres como específicos.
