The aim of this article is to analyze, by means of a teaching experience in which it had been used concept maps and case studies method; the effectiveness of this methodology in achieving a higher student´s motivation and predisposition to meaningful learning. We have found through observation and student´s opinions, that this kind of teaching methods actually works, but the current assessment system has been a major constraint. Therefore, one recommendation is to continue using this methods, and at the same time, to make needed changes in the curriculum of Commercial Law for Business Administration students.Uno de los propósitos fundamentales del Espacio Europeo de Enseñanza Superior es alcanzar una educación centrada en el estudiante, que significa, entre otros aspectos, el fomento del aprendizaje significativo. El objetivo del presente trabajo es analizar, desde una experiencia docente en la que se han empleado herramientas como los mapas conceptuales y el estudio de casos prácticos, la efectividad de esta metodología para el logro de una mayor motivación y predisposición de los estudiantes para el aprendizaje significativo. A través de la observación docente y la propia opinión de los alumnos, se ha concluido que dichas herramientas han demostrado su utilidad para el propósito previsto, sin embargo, sus efectos se han visto limitados por el actual sistema de evaluación de la materia y otra serie de factores organizativos. One of the main goals of the European Higher Education Area is the student-centered education, which it means, among others aspects, the promotion of meaningful learning.
