Estas se han desarrollado en los últimosaños a través de los Acuerdos firmados desde 1990 hasta el 2009. Loselementos principales de negociación son los desafíos globales y la expansióndel comercio mundial. En enero de 2007 intensificó sus relaciones económicashacia una asociación económica trasatlántica. El interés de la competitividadglobal les ha permitido seguir removiendo las barreras comerciales, por ejemploen la legislación de patentes, estándares industriales o en el acceso a losmercados de bolsa.
