To achieve this goal, we study the Heads of State and Government Summits of the G-20, from the first held in Washington in 2008, until the ninth carried out in Brisbane, in 2014. We note that beyond the differences and disputes of interest, developed and emerging countries converged in sustaining the old international institutions such as the IMF. Argentina, which had intense participation in the summits but lacked a strategy of influence, was left out of this agreement and lost power in the reforms produced in the multilateral means of credit. En este artículo se analiza la presencia de los países emergentes en la gobernanza global a través de la participación desplegada por ellos en el G-20, con el fin de identificar la posición de Argentina en este ámbito multilateral, y determinar el uso que hizo de su poder como potencia media. Para cumplir con este objetivo consideramos las cumbres de jefes de Estado y de Gobierno del G-20, desde la primera realizada en Washington, en 2008, hasta la novena llevada a cabo en Brisbane, en 2014. Observamos que más allá de las diferencias y disputa de intereses, países desarrollados y emergentes convergieron en sostener las Viejas instituciones internacionales como el FMI.
