Objective: This study aims to characterize and analyze the dynamics
homicidal in the municipality of Caldas (Antioquia). Methodology: For this
case study, a mixed (quantitative and qualitative) approach was used. homicide
figures, for the period between 2002 and 2010, were used as analytical
categories describing its variation, trends and structure. Results: The quantitative
analysis shows that for the period under review, the homicidal behavior
of Caldas (Antioquia) is similar to that of Medellin (the provincial capital).
It is found that from 2002 to 2007, the homicide rate boasts a downward
trend, from this period and until 2010, an alarming increase is evident. In the
analyzed period, most homicides in Caldas have victims are young men, the
most common circumstances of the killings are killings, assaults and brawls,
the most common causes are the reckoning and revenge. Conclusions: It is
clear the need to create a focus and a security intervention tools for the entire
metropolitan area, to avoid asymmetry in providing protection. |
