Summary: The present study develops an evaluation about consolidated purchases of medicines for the years 2013 to 2016. These purchases are proposed as a public health policy for spending containment for achieving greater budgetary efficiency. Since describing the purchasing process and proposing some indicators about the healthcare coverage, spending efficiency (the budget corresponds to its exercise) and drug’s prices dispersions (bidding’s prices must be the same in the market), occur a set of deficiencies that suggest the redesign and reprogramming eacj stage along the process. The authorities must consider new criteria for the definition about the set of drugs that should be involved in these purchases in the future, as a way to reduce the increasing number of unsupplied drugs, or unconsolidated purchases, due to the errors and omissions from buyers and suppliers
