Yoder. The paper examines liberal political arguments which consider the value of education as purely functional to the citizens� role. It argues that whilst this is important, it remains insufficient and inadequate as well. Rather, the liberal compromise with education should also accept its intrinsic value as part of a valuable life.El artículo sostiene que la defensa liberal de la educación escolar es incompatible con las demandas para excluir, excepcionalmente, a los niños de las exigencias de la escolaridad obligatoria. Como ocurrió en la excepción garantizada a lo Amish en Wisconsin v. Yoder. Se examinan los argumentos liberales políticos que consideran el valor de la educación exclusivamente como funcional a las exigencias de ciudadanía. Y se sostiene que, si bien ellos son importantes, son también insuficientes e inadecuados.
