Subsequently, it focuses on the definition of ‘barrier’ and its types including: geographic, socioeconomic, economic - administrative and legal.Following on from this, some of the currently existing strategies to address barriers and inequities of this population will be analyzed. As well as, existing efforts to protect this group, identified as vulnerable, will be recognized. Finally, this article concludes with an analysis of the resources given to provide the necessary care. However, these are not enough to provide definitive solutions owing to the complex context of the country.Resumen El presente artículo aborda la crisis de la salud en Colombia y las diferentes barreras a las que se enfrenta el Adulto Mayor para acceder al Derecho efectivo de la misma. En la primera parte se hace un recuento del concepto de salud, vejez y crisis de la salud para toda la población en especial de la que es objeto de este estudio. Posteriormente, se enfoca en la definición de barrea y sus clases, entre ellas: geográfica, socioeconómicas, económicas - administrativas y jurídicas.Continúa con el análisis de las estrategias existentes actualmente para dar respuesta a las barreras e inequidades de esta población. Además, se reconocen las acciones existentes para proteger este grupo identificado como vulnerable.
