Summary: When the residential autonomy of young people in Spain is threshed by autonomous communities, Extremadura is always distinguished by occupying the last positions, along with Asturias, Cantabria, Castilla y León and Galicia. In this article, after a brief critical reflection on the very concept of "youth", there are examined two of the factors hindering the process of transition to adulthood, the housing market and the job market as well as the typology of households that manage to form or that young people join when they leave the home of their mothers and / or fathers. The starting point is the Observatory for the Emancipation of Spain Youth Council (CJE), a periodical publication, from adhoc exploitation of secondary sources of public institutions, offers quantitative indicators on some of these elements. The mere juxtaposition of these indicators already if feel some first base to identify common features and differences between patterns of emancipation of the young population of Extremadura and the rest of Spain.
