This exception has been used, at some points, exceedingly. Therefore the Supreme Court has consolidated a doctrine based on objective and concrete reasons to ensure that the designation is fit to law.El objetivo de este trabajo consiste en exponer la evolución doctrinal de la Sala Tercera del Tribunal Supremo en relación con el nombramiento de directores generales no funcionarios al amparo de la excepción contenida en el artículo 18.2 de la Ley 6/1997, de 14 de abril, de Organización y Funcionamiento de la Administración General del Estado, que prevé dicha posibilidad.
