Viewed from this perspective, the issue is whether future generations are recognized in Colombian law as persons with rights and obligations? Do they have a legal personality? This paper attempts to answer those questions based on a review of the concepts of person and legal personality found in the framework of the Colombian Civil Code.Según el artículo 3 la ley 99 de 1993, en Colombia se trata a las generaciones futuras (GF) como sujetos de derechos y obligaciones porque según la ley colombiana y la mayoría de tratados internacionales de carácter ambiental ratificados por el país, las GF tienen el derecho de recibir de la generación presente �unos recursos naturales y un ambiente en tales condiciones que les permita satisfacer sus necesidades de vida�. Desde esta óptica, ¿son las generaciones futuras reconocidas por el derecho colombiano como sujetos de derechos y obligaciones? ¿Cuentan estas con personalidad jurídica?
