In this paper, the authors prove that Spain is far from fulfilling its international
commitments regarding climate change in the building sector and analyse how regulations have had an influence on this matter and how existing building renovation
represents an essential part of the solution. They make a state of the art of the available
technical tools to improve the existing building stock, and prove through a study of a
refurbished social housing block, that the technical and economic dimensions must be
further researched since building renovations may not be producing the expected reduction
of green house gas emissions and costs. |
