Summary: |
The new scientific advances have generated a change in the society which forces to review
the individual and collective statements about situations which have effects on the human
being. The progress of medicine and biology arouses great hopes, but also raises dilemmas
both for the common man and for the specialists, whether doctors, biologists, scientists,
philosophers or jurists. The person dignity and its respect when the new technology is
applied, constitutes one of the great concerns. The emergence of bioethics and bio-law
is necessary for the regulation of behaviors and conducts generated by the application of
scientific advances. Therefore, the objective of this article is to set forth a reflection about
the principle of the human dignity in the context of bioethics, identifying its philosophical
and juridical extent as a protection for the fundamental rights of all human beings. |
