For them systematic search for information was made; mainly inquiring about the particular conditions that constitute barriers to access to health services for these populations of Colombia. El presente trabajo tuvo como objetivo principal describir como el servicio de ambulancias aéreas medicalizadas pudieran mejorar el acceso a los servicios de salud en las poblaciones geográficamente dispersas y población privada de la libertad en Colombia, lo que a pesar del cambio satisfactorio en la cobertura y aseguramiento en salud de la población en el país, se hace necesario considerar el transporte aéreo medicalizado como una forma de respuesta a las necesidades en salud, es de anotar que este no reemplaza en ningún momento el transporte medico terrestre; contar con un servicio médico aéreo en zonas dispersas puede garantizar la seguridad de un traslado de pacientes considerados en riesgo de muerte, con complicación grave de su salud o integridad física.
