This article intends to analyze the legal status of protected areas and clarify the system of protection in the Andalusian Regional Government. Mainly due to the complexity of our environmental law, such regulation must be made compatible to a State basic protection policy of natural areas, with the additional protections required by each region. This has led to overlaps and contradictions, and especially to the existence of a disproportionate quantity of protection figures and management tools, which results in an inefficient management, organization and discipline. In addition, we devote special attention to the Site of Community Importance as a figure of legal protection that needs review and reflection, and for which are provided, in conclusion, some proposals for action for the conservation and protection of these natural areas. |
