The awareness of such problem is not a recent outcome of modern language sciences since it was already in the minds of Seventeenth century (and later) authors. Furthermore, the article focuses on two personal features that might also bias the perspective of historians in their attempts to understand the «spirit of the age» of political languages from the past: nationality and religion. Their affective and ethical strength frequently causes a distortion clearly found in the history of national origins and political theories analyzed herein.El artículo analiza en primer lugar la percepción del riesgo del anacronismo en la interpretación de los lenguajes políticos del pasado, como fruto no reciente de las ciencias del lenguaje pues ya estaba presente en autores del siglo XVII y siguientes. Luego se ocupa de dos determinaciones privadas del historiador -su cualidad de ciudadano de un país y su adhesión a un culto religioso- que pueden obstaculizar la comprensión del sentido de época del lenguaje pues su fuerza, a la vez afectiva y ética, es tan intensa, que suele deformar el tratamiento de la historia en aras del bien de la patria o de la religión.
