However, despite the benefits this process brings in terms of reducing the costs and time limits in cross-border claims, it is not still well known and remains underutilized several years after the entry into force of Regulation (EC) no. 861/2007. This article analyzes the changes that the Commission intends to make to this Regulation to promote efficiency of justice in the European Union and highlights and shadows.El proceso europeo de escasa cuantía fue diseñado por el legislador europeo para proporcionar a los consumidores un instrumento jurídico efectivo capaz de facilitar el acceso a la justicia y de asegurar el ejercicio de sus derechos en el ámbito transfronterizo. Sin embargo, pese a los beneficios que este proceso aporta en términos de reducción de las costas y de los plazos en las demandas transfronterizas, es aún poco conocido y sigue siendo un proceso infrautilizado varios años después de la entrada en vigor del Reglamento (CE) núm. 861/2007.
