To reach this goal we analyze, among other questions, how the intellectuals elaborated the concept of religious tolerance and its compatibility with their own liberal principles.En España, en los inicios del siglo XIX, los conceptos de Religión y Política aparecen fuertemente vinculados desde el punto de vista personal como institucional. En este trabajo mostramos cómo el uso de la historia se va a convertir en vehículo para canalizar los deseos de reforma y la expresión de religiosidad de los actores políticos españoles a lo largo de la primera mitad del siglo XIX.
