Summary: The paper is intended to evaluate the normative status of prostitution in Argentina. It also evaluates the constitutional status of the ban on brothels in the province of Cordoba. The concern arises from the enactment in this state of the so-called "law of trafficking". I start by analyzing the status of prostitution: I evaluate whether it is protected by the National Constitution (CN) as it, first, warrants the right to work (section 14) and second, the right to personal autonomy (section 19). I analyze the case law concerning the scope of this last warranty and show -on the basis that the best reading of the Constitution is the liberal one- that the activity under review is constitutionally protected. Finally I draw consequences regarding the ban on brothels.
