Summary: Mass lawsuits are a global reality. In Brazil, class action suits began to gain strength with the introduction of the Brazilian lawsuit from the Consumer Defense In spite of the fact that class action suits have been partially regulated by scattered laws even before the Consumer Code was promulgated, it was with this piece of legislation that the Brazilian legal system began to have its own set of rulings that applied to meta-individual lawsuits. The purpose of this study is to analyze the reach of res judicata in class action lawsuits, and for this purpose, the study examines diffuse rights lawsuits class action lawsuits stricto sensu and homogenous individual lawsuits.
