This study examines the Inter-American Human Rights Protection System (IHRS) as the result of a historical construction in which American regionalism was a pioneer. However, in spite of said pioneering, the protection of Human Rights (more specifically, Economic, Social and Cultural Rights) is still a work under construction in the global and regional dimensions, as in the case of IHRS. Nonetheless, seen from the standpoint of the international legal framework, which covers Human Rights, there is an understanding that the dignity of human beings should be the fundamental principle for the interpretation of said rules, including the rights related to workers. Thus, this thesis sought to discuss themes that are dear to the legal and academic fields, that is, Human Rights, Labor Law Right to Work (understood in its essence within the framework of Human Rights themselves) and the Right to a Dignified Life, which permeates all the fundamental rights of human beings. The Right to Life, which is protected in the IHRS and the 1988 Brazilian Constitution, should be the basis for the protection and guarantee of these rights.

Contudo, apesar de tal pioneirismo, a tutela dos Direitos Humanos (mais especificamente dos Direitos Econômicos, Sociais e Culturais) é, ainda, processo em construção nas dimensões mundial e regional, como no caso SIPDH. Todavia, na observação do arcabouço jurídico internacional, que versa sobre Direitos Humanos, há entendimento de que a dignidade do ser humano deve ser o princípio basilar para a interpretação de tais normas, incluindo aí os direitos relacionados aos trabalhadores.
